As Thanos once said “Balanced, as all things should be”, at one point in time, Battlefield V players truly believed that to be the case, but with a recent update this scenario has proved to be just too good to be true.
Yesterday, December 16th, DICE released its latest patch to Battlefield V, and with a slew of bug fixes also came on unexpected balancing act: increased TTK (time to kill).
According to Dice, “the low TTK meant that players died too quickly, making them less likely to return online to become proficient at Battlefield V” while this seems to be a valid reason, veteran players are certainly unhappy.
“The high TTK was one of the reasons I didn’t stick around Battlefield 1, and I saw the low TTK in Battlefield V as a plus” said YouTuber BBKDRAGOON on one of his latest video. This, alongside the controversy surrounding the poor PR management and generally disliked portrayal of WWII has meant that Battlefield V has already struck its share of bad reputation with its playerbase.
As of today however, DICE has responded, leaving the future of Battlefield V even deeper into its already misty smog. “Changes to the game carrying this kind of weight needs clearer, earlier communication before getting rolled out. We will improve how we roll out updates in the future and respond more quickly when you have questions or concerns” said a DICE developer, following by promising that core playlists will be implemented into Battlefield V, allowing players to choose wether or not to implement the new TTK system.
While this made some players happy, bringing the return of their beloved low TTK, others have spoke of their concerns, worried that this change will further split the already low player base.
Battlefield V is a multiplayer FPS set in WWII. It is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
