Bioshock’s Ken Levine Developing Interactive Twilight Zone Film

Bioshock's Ken Levine Developing Interactive Twilight Zone Film

Ken Levine is stepping into the world of film. Wired reports that the Bioshock creator will be writing and directing an interactive film based on the classic sci-fi anthology series The Twilight Zone.

Interlude will be providing technology to allow audience members to select decisions that various characters will make throughout the film. However, as is typical in the Twilight Zone, there may be many twists ahead for those characters.

Levine was inspired by The Twilight Zone when working on his own games, saying, “They speak to a larger truth. They’re morality plays, fables, and often they’re about a character who is going through an experience that’s central to their life but also speaks to a larger part of the human condition.”

For those who are worried Levine is completely stepping away from the gaming scene, need not worry: the film is still very early in development, and he is calling it a side project as of right now. “We’ve done a rough outline of what we want to do,” says Levine, “and now we’re stepping into the writing process, figuring out how to leverage the interactive element to make a narrative tale feel more personal for the viewer, and make them more engaged.” He is currently hard at work on his next game, a secret project with developer Take-Two Interactive.
