BlizzCon 2026 took over the internet this weekend with a myriad of announcements expanding nearly every Blizzard Entertainment franchise, and fans are hyped.
This weekend, Blizzard Entertainment deployed the first BlizzCon event since 2023 with BlizzCon 2026 and it was a roaring success (it completely sold out). During the event’s opening night, the big wigs behind the curtain at Blizzard revealed a wealth of new announcements surrounding every one of their major franchises. From World of Warcraft, to an open world StarCraft title, Blizzard brought the heat when it comes to new developments to BlizzCon 2026 and everything announced is listed below.
BlizzCon 2026: StarCraft Announces a New Open World Shooter for 2030
The next title in the popular StarCraft franchise is simply named StarCraft, and the next title in the sci-fi franchise is going to look markedly different from its predecessors. While not much has been revealed about the new entry in the franchise just yet (outside of the teaser trailer), StarCraft is an open-world shooter, and it’s due out in 2030. While fans have taken to forums to express excitement, Blizzard has had a noted history of announcing things far before release and it’s StarCraft‘s turn in the rotation. It also appears previous rumours of NEXON involvement have been unconfirmed so far.
Due to this, fans were more focused on how it’s four years away considering StarCraft: Remastered (the last release in the series) came out nearly ten years ago. While most fans are frustrated (and fearful) with the wait time, some fans remain hyped for the new release. One fan writes, “Even though it’s still far off, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more of it.”
BlizzCon 2026: Heroes of the Storm Brings Xal’atath To The Roster!
While it appears development on Heroes of the Storm has been brought to a crawl, Blizzard Entertainment reminded fans that the roster is still open for additions by bringing World of Warcraft‘s harbinger of the Void to the MOBA battlefield. Xal’atath, the looming threat from World of Warcraft: The War Within, is taking to the field on September 28. And Blizzard teases that more updates could be on the way.
Diablo IV: Season of Hell’s Legacy and The Amazon Announced, and It’s Coming To Switch 2
A new class is comig to Sanctuary in Diablo IV, and at BlizzCon 2026, it has been announced that the newest Wanderer is The Amazon. She brings her iconic bow and javelin setup from Diablo II to the hellscape of Diablo IV in 2027. On top of that, the newest season coming to Sanctuary is called Season of Hell’s Legacy and it begins September 15. The new season brings the franchise’s 30-year legacy into the game with the return of the Prime Evils and Deckard Cain, alongside rewards and gear inspired by every era of Diablo.
With all of the updates coming to Sanctuary in Diablo IV, BlizzCon made one last announcement for the fourth installment, The Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15, offering cross-platform play, cross-progression, and an evolving endgame wherever players choose to play.
BlizzCon 2026: Diablo V Has Been Announced for 2029!
Diablo V has been officially revealed for spring 2029. After the events of Diablo IV and its expansions, Diablo has taken Sanctuary, and there are no towns or safe havens left. The Diablo team cautions the new atmosphere will change how players will approach the game. In Diablo V, fans will embody the Heir to Westmarch and traverse a Sanctuary reshaped by Diablo.
At BlizzCon 2026 the development team also unveiled the Demon Hunter, Monk, and all-new Plague Knight classes and shared how past Diablo games are inspiring a renewed focus on item depth, clarity, and identity. Diablo V shows what happens after humanity has fallen and Diablo has won, and instead of safe haven towns, you will need to travel with a caravan of allies that builds through your travels through Sanctuary. Amongst your newfound companions are a former Sister of the Sightless Eye and a stranded Treasure Goblin, considering Diablo’s terror rules, religion and greed have seemingly lost purpose.
With itemization inspired by Diablo II, it appears the development team has their work cut out for them. Fans have expressed cautious optimism on forums, with many being hyped at the new horrific direction for Sanctuary. One fan puts it plainly, “Yeah it sounds interesting. I won’t buy until it actually happens.”
BlizzCon 2026: Hearthstone Brings a New Monk Class and Expansion!
Hearthstone also invaded BlizzCon 2026 with a new Monk class that promotes a new way to play. On top of the new Monk class, a new expansion is also coming to Hearthstone called Reign of the Black Empire, and it takes Azeroth back to a time in history that fans haven’t explored yet, when the Old Gods were in the throes of their power. Four old gods will enter tabletops as legendary neutral minions, and a new Assemble mechanic allows players to assemble their own minions.
That’s not all. The overhauled Journal is jam-packed with stories from each Hearthstone expansion, with all of the quests, achievements, and events from past adventures brought together in one neat tome. Battlegrounds is adding a new minion type: Aberrations, interdimensional beings born of the Old Gods’ influence wil take the battlefield. BlizzCon 2026: World of Warcraft Brings The Eclipse Update and The Last Titan Major Expansion!
Two new expansions are coming to World of Warcraft and they expand on the midpoint of The Worldsoul Saga. In the Midnight expansion, World of Warcraft’s next major update Eclipse (12.2) sees Xal’atath drawing ever closer to her goal of claiming Azeroth’s Worldsoul. This is not an expansion, but an update to the Midnight expansion and an extension to the overarching storyline featuring Xal’atath in the driver seat as the threat to Azeroth.
After this update, WoW’s next expansion The Last Titan stands to be the culmination of over two decades of Warcraft, bringing this chapter to a close while laying the groundwork for what comes next. Players can expect more information about The Last Titan to come early next year.
BlizzCon 2026: Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom Is Out Now!
In Warcraft III’s first new campaign in over 20 years, Forsaken Kingdom returns to Warcraft III storytelling with two campaign experiences: the Last Days of Lordaeron prologue campaign and the main campaign. The prologue delivers a more traditional, linear Warcraft III experience across four missions, while the main campaign opens into a soft open-world RPG structure inspired by the beloved Rexxar campaign. As if Blizzard Entertainment planned it, in the Warcraft mythos, Forsaken Kingdom takes place right before the events of World of Warcraft Forever, which was also announced at BlizzCon 2026.
BlizzCon 2026: World of Warcraft Forever Announced
World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, with beta beginning Thursday, September 17. Built as a new permanent home alongside modern and Classic WoW, Forever invites past, current, and new players into a familiar yet fresh Azeroth where the world takes center stage, community comes first, and the journey matters as much as the destination. Set after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, players will return to the original continents, adventure to level 60, and continue progressing through new stories, experiences, and updates inspired by years of player passion and feedback.

Overall, fans appear to be cautious regarding the StarCraft and Diablo V announcements (seeing as how both are still years away), and hyped regarding everything Warcraft, with some calling Forever “exactly what I and many others want” on forum sites.
