The Canadian Game Awards Are Approaching Fast!

The Canadian Game Awards are returning yet again in just over a week, with tickets and voting for the Fan Choice Award available now.

The sixth annual Canadian Game Awards show is coming to Toronto’s John W. H. Bassett Theatre to celebrate the Canadian industry and Canadian gamers this May 21 between 8:00-10:00 p.m. Hosting the show are Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer, the Canadian voice actors who played female and male Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series. We also know that the voice of Princess Zelda in both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Patricia Summersett, will make an appearance as one of the presenters.

Of the several award categories being presented this year, there is the Fan Choice Award, with voting on the top ten still open. Canadian Game Awards Creator and Executive Producer, Carl-Edwin Michel, said in an interview with Mobile Syrup, “Last year, I did announce that we were bringing the Fan Choice Award and the community awards, so we respected our word, we’re bringing it back.”

Michel also recommends attendees “come early,” as not only is there the main event at 8:00 p.m., but there is also the Eh! Game Showcase between 4:00 – 7:45 p.m., where attendees can interact with playable games, developers, and other parts of the industry, and the Canadian Game Awards’ first-ever pre-show at 7:00 p.m. “Yes, the gala is at 8 p.m., but come early because we do have all those games and all those experiences that you can try […] so come early and come have fun with us in the community.”

General Admission tickets for the Canadian Game Awards on May 21 are still available at $37.61 CAD, but the elevated access VIP tickets are sold out. General Admission ticket holders can still access just about everything the event has to offer, including the Eh! Game Showcase’s hands-on games and demos, meeting with developers and other industry guests, and the full live awards show. Non-VIP attendees will need to take their theatre seats on a first-come, first-served basis.
