CES 2023: Acer Debuts AMD Ryzen 7000 Series-Powered Nitro and Swift Laptops 1

At CES 2023, Acer announced their new Nitro and Swift gaming laptops—which are powered by AMD 7000 series processors.

Today, Acer and AMD were proud to announce their collaborative tech at CES 2023. The latest Nitro 16, Nitro 17 and Swift Go 14 laptops will use AMD Ryzen 7000-series processors, in addition to their Intel CPU-powered counterparts revealed yesterday. The new Acer Nitro laptops were said to be created to offer casual gamers a powerful rig with a stunningly beautiful experience on their respective 16-inch WUXGA/WQXGA displays or 17.3-inch FHD/QHD displays.

The Swift Go 14 uses the new processor, colourful OLED displays and all-day battery life—all compacted into a “thin-and-light” design. The new AMD Ryzen mobile processors are packed with power, containing its new ‘Zen 4’ core architecture that balances high performance and efficiency. This means that gamers and mobile workers can do what they do best for as long as possible. All these models from CES 2023 use the new processors, which stay cool with liquid metal thermal grease.

The 16-inch Nitro 16 gaming notebook comes in either a UXGA or WQXGA display with a 165 Hz refresh rate, offering 5% more screen space than previous Nitro models. The super special news at CES 2023 has been how the best of the AMD Ryzen mobile processors can be paired with NVIDIA’s best GPUs, up to the GeForce RTX 40 series laptop GPUs. Each laptop supports NVIDIA Advanced Optimus, which allows players to easily switch between onboard graphics and specialized graphics.

The 17-inch Nitro 17 also blends the CPU powers of AMD and the GPU powers of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs, but does it bigger and better. The 17.3-inch display comes in two options: an FHD display with 144 Hz or 165 Hz refresh rates or a quad high-definition display (QHD) with a 165 Hz refresh rate. The screen has an “81% screen-to-body ratio” that maximizes the display space, giving gamers a solid field-of-vision to see all their enemies in Call of Duty: Warzone, or appreciating landscape visuals in Horizon Zero Dawn.

Both Acer Nitro models will support up to 32 GB of DDR5 5600 MHz memory, and up to 2 TB of M.2 PCIe Gen 4 storage. In addition to the liquid thermal grease, both laptops will have dual fans and four fan outlets placed at the sides and upper-rear air intake. Users can take advantage of each laptop’s HD camera, two microphones and two DTS:X Ultra speakers.

As for connectivity options, both Nitro models have “an HDMI 2.1 port, a microSD card reader, USB 2.0, USB 4, a Type C USB 3.2 Gen 2 display port supporting Power Delivery, and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (with one that allows for offline charging).” Players will be thrilled to hear that both models come with LAN E2600G and are Wi-Fi 6E-enabled for superfast connectivity, and provide higher bandwidth. As a bonus, purchasing either Nitro laptop includes one month of Xbox Game Pass or PC Game Pass.

Acer Swift Go 14 (Starts at $849.99 USD)

The new Acer Swift Go 14 emphasizes its thin and light design with a thin 14.9 mm aluminum body, ultra-slim side bezels (just 4.15 mm), and a weight of less than 1.3 kg, according to Acer. It also combines the best of both worlds of AMD and NVIDIA on the CPU and GPU front. The Swift Go 14 has a striking 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with 2880×1800 resolution display, with TÜV Rheinland Eyesafe display certification.

It was stated to have a strong battery life that supports its user with up to 9.5 hours of use. To keep the whole system running smoothly on the go, the Swift Go 14 combines “Acer’s Twin Air dual-fan cooling system, dual D6 copper heat pipes, and an air-inlet keyboard to keep temperatures cool.” On connectivity, the Swift Go 14 comes with various ports: USB Type-C, HDMI 2.1 and a MicroSD card reader. As for storage, it can support up to 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD and up to 16 GB LPDDR5 memory.

Another big aspect that sets the Swift Go 14 apart from other models is its focus on a “better streaming and video call experience.” It has a 1440p webcam, containing “Acer’s Temporal Noise Reduction (TNR), paired with Acer Purified View and Purified Voice technology with AI noise reduction.” The Swift Go 14 also has Wi-Fi 6E enabled to ensure a steady stream of bandwidth, and fewer chances of dropping an important work meeting or school presentation.
