Hey everyone! It’s a bit of a slow week for comics, but that still doesn’t mean that there aren’t some purchase worthy titles out.
This week has a giant horde of zombies, an intergalactic superhero fight, and a superhero who is DOOMED.
Afterlife With Archie #5
By: Roberto Aguirre Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla
The most unexpected and best current horror title on the market continues this week. Continuing immediately after the epilogue from the last issue, the remaining teens in Lodge Manor have to decide whether to hide from the zombie outbreak, or to leave the town for good, all while the horde of zombies assaults the estate.
Every issue so far has shown that no character in Riverdale is safe. Anyone can be the next to be eaten and turned. This is definitely not the typical light-hearted Archie story that some people have read their lives. This is about seeing some of the brightest characters in comic history thrown into one of the most horrific situations imaginable and having it work effortlessly well.
Justice League United #1
By: Jeff Lemire and Mike McKone
While helping Adam Strange look for his assistant, the team of Animal Man, Star-Girl, Green Arrow, and Martian Manhunter have discovered a group of aliens abducting natives in northern Canada. Now the team has to face the unstoppable force called the Unimaginable.
This issue will also have a battle between the space bounty hunter Lobo and the savage Hawkman, as well as an appearance of Supergirl before she joins the rest of the group before they become the Justice League of Canada.
Superman: Doomed #1
By: Scott Lobdell and Ken Lashley
Action Comics #31
By: Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder
Superman/Wonder Woman #8
By: Charles Soule and Tony S. Daniel
One of the most anticipated battles in DC comics since the New 52 beings this week. Superman and Doomsday will finally have their first giant battle, and the repercussions will continue on in the Doomed saga. During their battle, Superman will become infected with a virus that slowly transforms him into a Doomsday like creature.
This story continues on in this week’s Action Comics #31, where Superman begins his change while the Men of S.T.E.E.L discovers it as well and in Superman/Wonder Woman #8 where Wonder Woman struggles to deal with her lover’s decent into becoming a monster.
