Crimson Desert’s Latest Patch Adds A Wealth Of Improvements, and Fans Love It

Taking Care of Business

Crimson Desert (PC) Review

Pearl Abyss has continued its mission to smooth every line in Crimson Desert following launch, and today, they’ve dropped patch 1.04 dripping with improvements.

Crimson Desert only launched in March, and just two weeks ago (following fan complaints), Pearl Abyss recommitted to huge patches for Crimson Desert. Today is the first of those patches, and Patch 1.04 brings a torrent of improvements. Fans now have a glimpse of how fast the Pearl Abyss development team moves. Patch 1.04 dropped today, and the changes it brings to the Desert are staggering.

First off, it brings a difficulty selector. Now, players can explore the expanse of Pywel, tuned to their preferred difficulty. The new easy and hard modes are what fans clamoured for. Easy will do as advertised: reduce incoming damage, lengthen parry timing, and make bosses less imposing (and less dodgey). Hard mode makes you much easier to kill by upping incoming damage, reducing dodge invincibility (and parry timing), and even giving some bosses new attack patterns to contend with, as games like Devil May Cry 5 do on harder difficulties.

Interestingly enough, Pearl Abyss is bringing a boss rematch feature soon to the equation, for fans who want to go back and challenge bosses on the higher difficulty setting without starting a fresh run from scratch. On top of that, Crimson Desert has deployed a wealth of storage options for the in-game housing system.

The Sturdy Gatherables Chest, the Kuku Cooler (and Enhanced Kuku Cooler), and the Collectibles Chest can be used to drop off the loot you pick up around the continent, and store ingredients for later and these ingredients can be used directly from storage while crafting. Patch 1.04 also allows fans to choose from preset house types based on where they are in the game’s narrative, and housing now includes an outfit station to make Kliff the best dressed for any occasion.

Fans are loving Pearl Abyss’s commitment to fixing and making Crimson Desert better, and they’re taking to online forums (such as Reddit) to spread the good word. One fan is ecstatic you can now train birds in Crimson Desert as pets, whereas another fan writes, “Holy QOL… I’ve never played a game before that I’m genuinely tempted to take a break from just so that the devs can work their magic. I’m gonna come back a month later to Crimson Desert 2.” Fans think the quality changes are so good that the title will grow into its own sequel.

Crimson Desert Patch 1.04 is live now on every platform, so fans can jump back in now to see what has changed.
