Daybreak Games Announces PlayStation 4 H1Z1 Open Beta 1

A new edition of Daybreak Games’ H1Z1 will be coming to the PlayStation 4 next month.

Daybreak Games announced today that the studio will be releasing a reimagined version of their popular battle royale title, H1Z1. This new free-to-play PlayStation 4 version of the game will host new features designed for console games, including a new weapon progression system, new gear and fully reworked user interface to better suit consoles. The game will also have a new control scheme along with simplified methods for loot collecting and item management. The PlayStation 4 version of H1Z1 will begin its open beta on May 22, while its first closed beta weekend will happen at the end of this week.

H1Z1 on PS4 is true battle royale mayhem. We have reimagined the game for PlayStation 4 and have designed it to accentuate the essentials of battle royale that make the genre so exciting to watch and play,” said H1Z1 Producer Terrence Yee. “We have added key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun — an action shooter’s dream of fast-paced battle royale.”

Officially released earlier this year, H1Z1 originally launched on PC as a free-to-play battle royale game. Up to one hundred and fifty players could compete against each other to be the last one standing after parachuting down onto a random part of a large-scale map. Since its February launch, H1Z1 has already gone on to form an official pro league known as the H1Z1 Pro League (or H1PL), where teams have been facing off against each other live in Las Vegas.

Anyone interested in taking part in the upcoming beta tests for H1Z1 on PlayStation 4 can sign up now on the game’s official website.
