Blizzard has released the official schedule for this year’s BlizzCon and it hints heavily at some big Diablo news.
While basically all of Blizzard’s properties have panels, Diablo’s is the first one taking place after the opening ceremonies. That spot is a prestigious one and normally features a major announcement. Last year the first panel after the ceremony focused on World of Warcraft and featured the announcement of World of Warcraft Classic and Battle for Azeroth. As a result, fans are speculating a similarly grand announcement for Diablo’s panel. The timing does also make some sense, seeing as Diablo was noticeably absent from BlizzCon 2017 and that earlier this year Blizzard announced that they were hiring for an upcoming Diablo-related project.
The Overwatch World Cup will also take centre stage at BlizzCon as eight teams remain in contention for the coveted championship trophy. These teams are Canada, France, Australia, Finland, China, U.S.A, Great Britain and odds-on favourite South Korea. The competition kicks off with the Quarterfinals on Friday, starting at 3:00 PM PST and running until 11:15 PM PST. On Saturday the semi-finals will kick off at 12:30 PM PST with the finals starting at 6:45 PM PST. South Korea has won every iteration of the Overwatch World Cup so far and will look to add to their storied history when they take on Australia in the Quarterfinals.
Some of the other highlights from the schedule include an in-depth look at the music of Blizzard, a panel with the Overwatch voice actors and an in-depth look at the future of Starcraft II. The full schedule is available here. BlizzCon will kick off on Friday, November 2nd at 2:00 PM PST with the opening ceremonies. You can catch all the BlizzCon action at the company’s official website.
