Dragonball Xenoverse 2 Facing Supply Issues for Japanese Switch Release

The Switch is massively popular no matter where you go, but in most of the world, supply is starting to meet demand. Not so in Japan, where frequently lines will form just to get entered into a raffle to earn the chance to buy a console. Now, that may sound wild to you, but think about how rabid people get over online pre-orders in North America. With how difficult it is to buy limited items in this day and age, the news of supply issues is always a frustrating one.

The latest bummer comes from Bandai Namco, courtesy of the official Japanese Twitter account for this Tweet, physical copies of the Switch version of the game are not being stocked to appease demand, with further shipments promised to be delivered in the following weeks. Mind you, this is only for the physical release. The eShop has the game available for download, and as long as your Switch has space, that means it’s readily available.

Many analysts are claiming physical copies being so hard to find isn’t due to under-production. Instead, the game seems to be selling extremely well on Switch, especially considering it’s a port of a game that has been available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for months. The thought of playing a well made Dragonball Z action game on the go is exciting, and with the Switch’s small internal memory, physical copies are usually the way to go. Hopefully, these issues don’t leak out of Japan into other parts of the world, so we can all scream until our hair turns blonde on the go.

We’ve reached out to Bandai Namco’s PR for comment on the situation, and have yet to receive a response. We’ll update if and when they get back to us.
