E3 2018: PC Gaming Show Rundown 1

The 2018 PC Gaming Show featured plenty of new announcements, surprise reveals, and more video games than you could shake a stick at. Here are the details on every game revealed during the show!


The first video game shown was Satisfactory, a base building game where you construct factories on an alien planet. Developed by Goat Simulator creators Coffee Stain Games, the environments look expansive and lush, and the intricacies of the crafting and building system are intriguing. Satisfactory will also feature multiplayer, and an alpha is currently planned for later this year.

Neo Cab

Next up was Neo Cab, a sci-fi title set in the near future where you play as a driver in an augmented reality car who must hide their robot identity. You can pick between several dialogue choices while on a ride or drive in first-person, though with no release window attached it may be some time before we find out more information.

Mavericks Proving Grounds

Battle Royale games were in abundance at the PC Gaming Show, though none topped Mavericks Proving Grounds promise for 1000 concurrent player matches. The trailer showcased destructible environments and first-person gunplay, and if you’re interested you can sign up for the closed beta here, though only 100,000 slots are open.

The Forgotten City

The Forgotten City is the stand-alone reimagining of the Skyrim mod of the same name. Featuring a heavy investigative element, first-person combat against zombie-like creatures, and an opulent, palatial setting, The Forgotten City is set for release in 2019.

Star Control Origins

Stardock originally revealed their Star Control reboot in 2013, and thanks to a brand new trailer at the PC Gaming Show, we now know it will launch on September 20th, 2018. Aside from the release date, the trailer revealed more of the game’s massive, story-driven universe where your decisions will affect the universe. Plus, you can engage in multiplayer battles if exploring the entire universe gets too lonely.

Hunt: Showdown

Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown received a brief new trailer, teasing a handful of new weapons and a brand new monster called The Water Devil. Though no release date for the update was shared, it would not be a surprise to see it launch later this summer.

The Sinking City

Frogwares, the developer behind the Sherlock Holmes series, unveiled more information on their Lovecraftian horror game The Sinking City. Set in 1920’s America, the emphasis is on investigation, though there are combat mechanics if things go south. There will be no clear objectives in the game, which sounds particularly promising for those of us who want to delve into mysteries at our own pace.

Warframe: The Sacrifice

The next story quest in Warframe is coming out a lot sooner than you’d think. Warframe: The Sacrifice launches this month, and Digital Extremes showed off a brand new trailer to announce it.

Sega’s Suite – Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza 0, Valkyria Chronicles 4

Sega came out swinging with a new trailer highlighting several of their games that would be making their way to the PC over the next years. Aside from the already announced Shining Resonance Refrain and Shenmue I + II, Sega revealed that Yakuza KiwamiYakuza 0, and Valkyria Chronicles 4 would also be released on digital storefronts. Yakuza 0 is set for release in early August 2018.

Killing Floor 2 – Summer Sideshow: Treacherous Skies

Tripwire Interactive arrived at the PC Gaming Show with a trifecta of games on display. The first was the annual Summer Sideshow update for Killing Floor 2, which adds a new airship map and a new DLC character in Treacherous Skies. If you’re looking to get back into Killing Floor 2, you can play the update yourself when it launches on June 12.

Maneater is an open-world Action-RPG where you play as a shark who is terrorizing the Gulf Coast. The trailer features plenty of people being eaten, and the developers have said that Maneater will feature a complete skill tree as you fight to become the deadliest predator around. No release date has been announced.

Bravery Network Online

Debuting at the show is Untitled Publisher’s Bravery Network Online, a turn-based RPG boasting a comic art style. While some of the characters were hitting each other, someone used Peck to kiss their opponent, and I can’t wait to find out more about this strange RPG before it launches at some point in the future.

Morning Star

Morning Star was the next game, featuring a world where you must ‘farm’ data from computers in order to recover from a cyberpunk dystopia. The premise is intriguing, and we can’t wait to learn more about this game in the months ahead.

You can add Overwhelm to the list of games that were announced and launched during E3 2018, which is available for purchase of Steam and itch.io right now. It’s a 2D action platformer rendered in black and red, and it looks to be a challenging experience that will put your skills to the test.

Insomniac Games stopped by to show off their newest VR title, Stormland, available exclusively for the Oculus Rift. It’s an open world game set in an alien world high above the clouds, where the player must save their friends and survive in the harsh environment.

Night Call

The second taxi driver game revealed at the PC Gaming Show is Night Call by Raw Fury, a noir adventure game set in Paris. You’ll travel around the city, picking up clients as you investigate a series of connected murders.

Sable is an indie title developed by Shedworks that follows a young girl named Sable as she explores an alien planet. It has a distinct art style rendered in Moebius tones, and it looks fantastic judging from the brief trailer shown.

Star Citizen

The forever in development Star Citizen came to the PC Gaming Show with a brand new trailer showcasing the upcoming Alpha 3.2 release.

Genesis Alpha One

Space disaster simulation Genesis: Alpha One, where you can clone crew members, fight off alien infestations, and try to survive in a hostile galaxy, will launch on September 4, 2018.

Don’t Starve: Hamlet

Good news: Don’t Starve: Hamlet debuted a new trailer. Bad news: The release was delayed until December 2018.

Just Cause 4

Avalanche Studios showcased the physics and weather models for Just Cause 4 with a brand new trailer. Expect blizzards, sandstorms, and more as you explore the game’s massive biomes.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead

After months of releasing short teasers for each of the main characters, Overkill’s The Walking Dead released a brand new gameplay trailer at the PC Gaming Show. With four-player co-op, where each character has unique skills and abilities, this mission-based take on The Walking Dead will certainly set it apart from the competition when it releases on November 6, 2018

The Walking Dead: The Final Season

TellTale Games took to the conference floor for a brief interview on The Walking Dead: The Final Season, which you can watch below.

Noita is a roguelike pixel-based dungeon crawler where literally every pixel is simulated, meaning that physics and chemistry can and will combine in ridiculous ways. And considering that you are armed with a magic wand, the possibilities look enticing. No release date has been announced.

Two Point Hospital

For those looking for a fresh take on the hospital simulator, Two Point Hospital certainly looks to be the weirdest game in the genre. You’ll cure diseases such as ‘turtle head’, where a patients’ head retreats into their body, and ‘monobrow’, a disease that causes shaved monobrows to spawn smaller ‘monobeasts’ that plague the hospital.

The cutest game of the 2017 PC Gaming Show, Ooblets, returned to the stage on Tuesday night with a brand new trailer. The farming and creature-collecting game showed two Ooblets fighting each other in an all-or-nothing battle, along with some sweet dance moves. Ooblets is set for release before the end of 2018.

Anno 1800

The next installment of the long-running Anno series will take place in the 1800s, and if past titles are anything to go by, expect a story mode, a customizable sandbox, and functioning multiplayer. Developer BlueBytes also announced that they will be recruiting community members to assist in the development of the game by giving feedback through an initiative called Anno Union. If you’re interested, you can sign up here.

Rapture Rejects

The last Battle Royale shown at the conference was Rapture Rejects, a game that features the art style of the popular Cyanide and Happiness webcomics. Published by TinyBuild, Rapture Rejects is set after God accidentally beamed up the worst of humanity instead of the best during the Rapture, with battles playing out in a top-down isometric style.

Hitman 2

Closing out the show was a new trailer for Io Interactive’s Hitman 2. Set to launch on November 13, 2018, the new trailer showed off some of the weapons and methods of assassination you can find in the Miami level.
