EA to Acquire Titanfall Developers 1

Electronic Arts is set to acquire the developers behind the Titanfall series.

EA announced today that the company has purchased Respawn Entertainment for $315 million. The agreement also details that additional fees will be depending on the performance of future titles planned up until 2022. These additional fees can go as high as $140 million.

“Our longtime partnership is grounded in a shared desire to push the boundaries and deliver extraordinary and innovative new experiences for players around the world. Together, we’ve brought this to life in the Titanfall franchise, and now with the Respawn team joining EA, we have exciting plans to accomplish even more amazing things in the future.” Said EA CEO Andrew Wilson.

Founded in 2010, Respawn Entertainment is known for the Microsoft exclusive Titanfall and its 2016 sequel, Titanfall 2. Both titles were published by EA when they released.

“We felt that now was the time to join an industry leader that brings the resources and support we need for long term success, while still keeping our culture and creative freedom. EA has been a great partner over the years with Titanfall and Titanfall 2, and we’re excited to combine our strengths. This is a great next step for Respawn, EA, and our players.” said Respawn CEO Vince Zampella.

Respawn Entertainment is currently working on an untitled virtual reality title for the Oculus Rift which was announced last month.
