In the midst of the conversation about the rising cost of playing video games, CAPCOM has decided to take a different approach with their latest entry in the Monster Hunter franchise.
Announced on Twitter, Monster Hunter Wilds will be receiving a permanent price reduction starting on August 4th, 2026. In addition to this, CAPCOM also specified the discontinuation of some of their DLC bundles in order to better streamline the experience on August 3rd, 2026 at 8PM (EST). However, the announcement does not specify the amount that Monster Hunter Wilds will be reduced by, nor does it include the prices of these new bundle packages.

In their post, CAPCOM detailed how the Monster Hunter Wilds Deluxe, Premium Deluxe and Cosmetic DLC Pass will all be discontinued and redistributed into three new DLC bundles:
- Monster Hunter Wilds Gold Edition will include the base game and the Cosmetic DLC Collection.
- Monster Hunter Wilds Cosmetic DLC Collection a bundle of 10 DLC Packs (including the Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack)
- Monster Hunter Wilds Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack, which features select paid cosmetic DLC previously only available as standalone products
- The Premium Bonuses will also be available in all three bundles
While details are sparse, any news of a possible price reduction is sure to be welcome amongst gamers, particularly after recent news that Monster Hunter Wilds is beginning development on the Nintendo Switch 2. CAPCOM has long faced criticism over its DLC practices—with fans recently expressing frustration over Street Fighter 6 requiring an additional $160 investment to unlock all currently available characters.
Monster Hunter Wilds launched on Feb 27th, 2026, to favourable reviews, with many critics praising its seamless “open-world,” streamlined combat, and improved accessibility for newcomers. More details will be provided once they become available.
