NEXON has unveiled Embers of the Uncrowned, and it serves as a dark fantasy MMORPG featuring intense action from an isometric perspective (or, Diablo-like).
The next dark fantasy-inspired MMORPG is here. Today, NEXON pulled back the curtain to reveal a title they’ve stashed behind closed doors, Embers of the Uncrowned. What NEXON has brought so far to the table with their next title is a cinematic trailer showcasing brutal and gory visuals that would make fans of Mortal Kombat‘s Fatality system squeal in delight. The trailer can be seen below in all of its glory, thanks to NEXON.
Embers of the Uncrowned is set in an immersive dark fantasy world and is based on a hero’s journey to rebuild a noble house devastated by elves. This journey is to reclaim the land that once belonged to humanity. The supposed antagonist in the trailer has elf-like features with pointed ear tips, as she appears harmless at first.
Then, the silver-haired woman violently unleashes mercury liquid tendrils that invade the unsuspecting armoured regiment’s equipment and body. In this horrifying scene, the liquid rips the entire squadron to shreds, raining blood down onto the battlefield. While the trailer shows nothing regarding gameplay from Embers of the Uncrowned, it’s safe to say it will be violent and will feature an isometric (Diablo IV, Path of Exile-like) POV.
Embers of the Uncrowned brings three yet-to-be-detailed classes to the equation: the swift Spectral Blade, the crushing Executioner, and the magic-wielding Stormbringer for players to take for a spin, and each will function in different ways to dominate the battlefield. Like other MMORPGs, NEXON also brings mighty Domain Bosses and massive Raids (MMO staples) to EOTU. These obstacles demand perfect cooperation and flawless tactics to triumph over.

NEXON also puts importance on player identity. In Embers of the Uncrowned, players will gain notoriety and strengthen their domain within the House Harborwell, which will expand with settlements and stories. As players continue their quest, their territory can be developed from a humble camp into a vibrant city as people gather and House Harborwell expands. Players can also equip distinctive costumes, facial and body customizations to personalize their journey and create a signature look.
While no gameplay has been shown yet for Embers of the Uncrowned, it can be wishlisted now on Steam (and a demo is coming soon), and fans can find more information regarding the dark fantasy MMORPG over on the official website.
