Some Endgame Destiny 2 Content Now Locked Behind DLC 1

Destiny 2 players are up in arms following the release of the Curse of Osiris expansion, which has locked vanilla players out of Prestige raids and strikes due to increased requirements for endgame activities.

As reported by Kotaku, the expansion has raised the power level cap from 300 to 330. When Destiny 2 launched, players were required to reach a power level of 300 to participate in Prestige versions of the raid and Nightfall strikes. With the release of Curse of Osiris, the power level requirement has increased to 330, meaning that players who have not purchased the expansion are now unable to participate in those activities.

Furthermore, Bungie introduced a heroic strike playlist with Curse of Osiris, which is also locked behind DLC despite requiring a power level of 270 to enter.

If console players have been unable to complete either a Prestige raid or Nightfall strike before the release of Curse of Osiris, they are now prevented from completing The Prestige trophy and achievement unless they purchase the expansion. For PS4 players, this means that Destiny 2‘s platinum trophy is now locked behind DLC.

This issue comes after Bungie was forced to change Destiny 2‘s experience system after players found that playing shorter events would scale down XP gain.

We’ve reached out to Bungie for comment, and we’ll update the article when we receive a response.
