EVE Vanguard Unveils Major Update: Mining Lasers and Warclone Evolution

CCP Games unveils the first major update for EVE Vanguard‘s beta and relaunches the First Strike Playtest, expanding the EVE Online universe.

In EVE Vanguard, players assume the role of the ‘Vanguard’ as they are sent to New Eden to search for wreckage, engage in combat with enemy NPCs or other players, and fight for survival. The game expands the lore of EVE Online and is intertwined with it, as the two games affect each other in one way or another. The game is currently available for playtesting as it is in development, and players can play the game if they have Founder access as an Omega on EVE Online.

As players return to the playtest today, CCP Games will be releasing their first content update to the beta, such as the Mining Lasers Prototype to extract ore from nodes as you survey the environment, Mining and Salvage Contracts as they contribute to oppression and corruption with each completed contract impacting New Eden in EVE Online and a new Warclone suit designed with agility in mind featuring a slimmer profile and visually distinguishing players from the hostile NPC.

“Showcasing the prototype mining laser and evolution of the Warclone suit reinforces our dedication to an open development process where players can tangibly impact the game’s direction,” said the Lead Product Manager at CCP Gaming London, Scott Davis, about the Prototype Mining Laser.

If players participate in the playtest to try out the new features, they can receive awards in EVE Online, such as Corax, Osprey Navy Issue Arkobine Arisen Skins, and PLEX.

Alongside the new EVE Vanguard content update, the First Strike Playtest will be returning for previous and new players to partake in, as they can receive special rewards for completing tasks. Some tasks include getting 50 kills or collecting 2,000 units of biomass. But as the Vanguard completes the task in New Eden, they can climb the leaderboard for the most kills, Biomass used, completing contracts, and with the most extraction as the top players for each category are rewarded a wealth of PLEX for their contribution to the event.
