Only GTA Could Rename a Basketball Team

GTA 6 is Transforming the Miami Heat Into the Vice City Heat For One Night

In an unprecedented collaboration, Grand Theft Auto VI is literally changing the name of an NBA team for a single night. On November 18, 2026, the Miami Heat will officially become the “Vice City Heat” when they play the Milwaukee Bucks.

The collaboration was announced on the Miami Heat’s official website, with some flashy graphics to match. And it’s much more than a simple name change, as the collab will completely change the design of both the court and the team itself. For one night, the Heat will play on special hardwood with a Vice City design, and the team will be wearing an entirely new uniform.

A new “Vice City Collection” of apparel is also being launched, available for purchase both in person and online. There will also, apparently, be special game-night “activities and activations,” although the team hasn’t announced exactly what those will be yet. Tickets are available for purchase now and run the usual NBA gamut of roughly $70–$500.

Vice City is, of course, the setting of GTA 6, roughly based on real-life Miami. While the sixth game returns to the setting, it first appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on the PlayStation 2. With this return to the humidity of Florida (Leonida in the game universe), GTA 6 follows the story of Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval, a sort of modern-day reinterpretation of Bonnie and Clyde. After an “easy score” goes wrong, the pair find themselves in the middle of a giant conspiracy that spans the state.

Massive collaborations aside, GTA 6 is already tracking to be one of the biggest entertainment releases of all time, if not the biggest period. While we’ve only seen a few snippets of the actual game, a big leak in August allegedly gave us our first glimpses of the expansive world map. The most recent update for the game was its official ESRB rating, unsurprisingly rated M for Mature, for “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol, and In-Game Purchases.” Certainly sounds like a GTA game.

GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
