A huge amount of supposed GTA 6 leaks hit the internet yesterday with a lot of yet-to-be-seen gameplay put on display, and the leaker promises round two tonight if their demands aren’t met.
Grand Theft Auto VI appears to have suffered another significant leak after what appeared to be legitimate gameplay videos and an image of the full map appeared online last night. Two videos showing GTA 6 gameplay have emerged from the leak: one featuring the male protagonist, Jason, playing basketball outside a home, and the other showing Jason driving a car and then attacking someone.

A supposed image of the complete map has also hit the internet, and since the leaks hit yesterday, Take-Two Interactive has been hard at work aggressively taking them down en masse. The clips appear to be coming from a website called Cyberleek, and the leaks arrived just a week before Netflix was scheduled to air fresh Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay (on August 27). While the leaks’ authenticity is still unconfirmed, Take-Two’s insistence on removing the content has led fans on forums like Reddit to believe they are real.
GTA 6 is quite possibly the most anticipated game ever made, so it has suffered a number of leaks over the years. In 2022, nearly 100 videos and images from an early version of Rockstar’s next title were leaked online by hackers in what was, at the time, one of gaming’s biggest security breaches. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said, “We take leaks very seriously indeed, and they disappoint all of us; it’s really frustrating and upsetting to the team.” The British teenager responsible is now awaiting retrial after a lengthy hospital stay.
This time, the group CyberLeek appears focused on one issue: the claim that GTA 6 will not receive a physical release at launch. CyberLeek’s reasoning includes criticism of the lack of a physical disc, and the group goes on to threaten other video game publishers, presumably with leaks similar to those suffered by GTA 6. CyberLeek says, “Publishers should beware,” adding, “If CyberLeek can reach Rockstar, no one is safe. This is a message to all big corpo: behave, or be the next target.” The group is calling for a physical release of GTA 6, changes to Rockstar’s digital pre-order practices and the introduction of a playable offline version.
Stop Killing Games, another organization that fought to defend The Crew after Ubisoft was beelining to shut it down for good, took to the internet today to distance themselves from CyberLeek. IGN reports Stop Killing Games has published a statement in response to CyberLeek, telling fans not to send CyberLeek any money and suggesting the motivation behind this leak has nothing to do with concern over an all-digital future. The whole post has been shared to Reddit and can be seen here.
As it stands, CyberLeek has promised more leaks would occur tonight, August 19, at 8:00 p.m. EST if Rockstar wouldn’t meet their demands for a physical copy and issue an apology over their digital pre-order policies.
