After a major drought of news regarding the highly anticipated GTA 6, an alleged leak of one of the in-game nightclubs spilled onto the internet and data miners believe world editing will be possible.
Unfortunately, GTA 6 is no stranger to leaks. As fans continue to claw at any shred of information regarding the sixth entry in Rockstar’s flagship franchise, leaks do occasionally spring, and the last time a leak of development footage happened, Rockstar issued an apology on Twitter (now called X). With an assurance to fans, “Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned.”
This leak (which has yet to be confirmed or denied by Rockstar) was posted in a tweet on X by user RockstarGTAVI, and the video appears to take place in a nightclub. As the character moves through the nightclub, NPCs are heard talking in the background, and a small notification that says “WhatUp! message received” can be seen on the right side. This could make sense, considering Grand Theft Auto‘s track record of lampooning real-life scenarios and brands.
The second bit of information circling the internet regarding GTA 6 comes from a thread on GTA Forums by Tez2. He found that the ‘evidence’ pointed to world editing tools in GTA 6 files. He explains, “These new tool/s are more of level editors, part of the creator/UGC system, benefiting designers. But if those tools were more meant for VI and simply backported to GTAO, then there could be more to them than benefiting designers.” When the last GTA 6 leak happened, the copyrighted material posted to GTA Forums was removed by Rockstar.
He continued theorizing, “If those tool/s were meant for VI‘s, then Rockstar is integrating the backbone of the UGC/Creator system much into freemode that it might be possible for us to customize the freemode experience in VI’s online.” While there have been successful data mining leaks like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet last year, this remains unconfirmed.
It is important to note that although these ‘leaks’ seem compelling, there is no official statement from Rockstar to support anything revealed just yet, so everything should be taken with a grain of salt until an official reveal happens.
