GUNDAM EVOLUTION Will Sadly Shut Down In November

The latest game in the Gundam Universe, the multiplayer PvP-based GUNDAM EVOLUTION, will be shuttering its servers this November.

The unfortunate announcement comes less than a year after the title initially launched, and the developers have already made it official on the GUNDAM EVOLUTION website. GUNDAM EVOLUTION is a free-to-play PvP-based FPS arena shooter set in the Gundam Universe, and players can select units from their favourite moments in the series. Below is the official announcement and trailer for the title’s season five — STORM, with a brand new unit from Mobile Suit Gundam 00 that is currently available to play.

Executive Producer for GUNDAM EVOLUTION, Kazuya Maruyama, said “We wanted to create a title that brought FPS fans and Gundam fans together. We challenged ourselves to create an authentic Gundam FPS game that could be played globally. Unfortunately, we have determined that it is no longer possible for us to provide a service that satisfies our players.” in an important announcement on the official EVOLUTION website.

While the end is near for GUNDAM EVOLUTION, there are still a few more notes to make for fans of the title before the shutdown in November. There are still two seasons (seasons 6 and 7) left for fans to enjoy the game as intended before the curtain call, and fans can jump in at no cost to give the game a go before it is delisted and can’t be played. So those thinking about giving EVOLUTION a try shouldn’t waste any time.

In the same important announcement, Maruyama also mentioned the in-game store will not accept purchases for EVO coins after July 26, but fans who already have EVO coins can still use them, considering the storefront won’t close. Only the ability to purchase in-game premium currency will be discontinued, and fans who have already purchased items in EVOLUTION will not be eligible for refund the site says.

Fans will surely be disappointed by the end of GUNDAM EVOLUTION, but the game is still playable until November 29, so it may be time to suit up for the last skirmish before then.
