Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi Out In May

Aksys Games announced yesterday that Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi, a visual novel, will make its way to PlayStation 3 on May 6.

The story takes place in the Edo period of Japan and revolves around a girl named Chizuru and her interactions with the Shinesengumi (a feared police force). There is a huge romance element to these titles, as well as a supernatural one involving demons (Oni) and other spiritual beings.

Hakuoki is also known for being an otome game series (marketed to a female audience), making it a very niche yet loved series in North America.

Stories of the Shinsengumi continues this tradition, while also including an interesting limited edition. Inside this box is: a love charm, hair pin, hair comb and more.

The series began in the PlayStation 2 era, and has since been adapted to a movie and an anime series. You can read more about Hakuoki and the brave people behind Aksys Games here.
