Heroes: A Video Game Symphony is coming to Toronto, featuring legendary Silent Hill Composer Akira Yamaoka.
Heroes: A Video Game Symphony is an orchestral music experience created in large part due to Jason Michael Paul, the founder of JMP Entertainment. He has produced other video game concerts, including music from the Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda franchises.
The concert has been running for years, having sold out in Montreal recently, as well as presenting across the United States, and in France, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Armenia in the past. On September 17, you could get a chance to see this legendary show for yourself at Toronto’s The Bowl at Sobeys Stadium.
The core of the Heroes: A Video Game Symphony experience is to bring the audience on a hero’s journey, the narrative framework used in countless pieces of media, with video games being no strangers. Each piece played during Heroes: A Video Game Symphony was selected to coincide with a chapter of the hero’s journey, with a coinciding projection of events from the game to supplement the music and chapter theme.
There are several games the show will draw music from. Here are the highlights.
- The Elder Scrolls
- Prince of Persia
- Baldur’s Gate
- Diablo
- Assassin’s Creed
- God of War
- Metal Gear Solid
- Castlevania
- Fallout
- Halo
Jason Michael Paul said, “The selection goes beyond instant recognition. It aims for an emotional interpretation of video games – their cultural impact and their ability to tell stories that transcend generations and platforms.”

The evening won’t just be featuring music, as composer, producer, and performer Akira Yamaoka will be coming along for Heroes: A Video Game Symphony in Toronto. He has worked on several concerts before, and is well known for his work on the Silent Hill, Contra, and Snatcher franchises. He will be available for a meet-and-greet for those attending the event with VIP tickets.
If this experience is something you want to try for yourself, maybe consider wearing some light cosplay, as dressing up is highly encouraged for the concert. For more information, check out the Heroes: A Video Game Symphony website or Ticketmaster for tickets.
