Hideo Kojima teases brand-new project entitled OD

Game development icon Hideo Kojima teased a brand-new title he has been working on, simply called OD.

Hiedo Kojima, in typical Kojima fashion, took the stage at The Game Awards to tease a new game he has been working on, called OD. Kojima unveiled a trailer featuring some big names in acting like Udo Kier, Sophia Lillis, and Hunter Schafer all reading the same set of lines, but the tone of voice and facial expressions are vastly different.

Kojima was not the only star on stage for this reveal, however, as filmmaker Jordan Peele also made an appearance to help announce the upcoming horror game and his collaboration with Kojima. While we knew that Kojima was working on a title other than Death Stranding 2, we did not expect to see an announcement of it ahead of a Death Stranding 2 trailer.

Peele spent a few moments on stage to lavish his praises on Kojima, saying “what he’s cooking up here is completely immersive, utterly terrifying, and I am absolutely honoured to be collaborating with the GOAT.”

Communicating through his translator, Kojima says that “[OD] is a game, don’t get me wrong, but it’s at the same time a movie, but at the same time a new form of media.” While we can’t be sure what this entails specifically, it does sound extremely interesting, and if the graphics in the trailer are anything to go off, then OD is sure to impress with its bold ambition.

As it is being developed with the support of Xbox Studios, OD will definitely be releasing for Xbox, but no release date was announced during the segment, so we can only speculate at this point. All we know for sure, is that OD cannot come soon enough.
