The Hitman 3: Freelancer mode was announced back in early 2022, and not only is the release right around the corner, there is a new cinematic trailer to watch.

The Freelancer update release date of January 26 is finally among us. It has also released a new cinematic trailer to whet fans’ appetites before jumping back into the suit and tie of Agent 47 for new missions. Hitman 3: Freelancer, for those who don’t know, is a brand new single-player experience that features rogue-like elements and a customizable base of operations called Agent 47’s Safehouse, which also functions as the player’s hub between missions similar to the ‘House of Hades’ in Hades. This mode is set after the events of Hitman 3‘s epilogue, and the new cinematic trailer can be seen below.

The cinematic outlines a nefarious infinite seeming new objective for Agent 47, and in a traditional rogue-like fashion, seems to be hugely open/never-ending. Oh, the Freelancer update is FREE for all owners of the Hitman 3 base game. In the most recent ‘Road to Freelancer’ blog post from October 2022, developers detailed the scope of the update with “We’ve decided to push beyond our original scope for launch and include almost all locations from the World of Assassination from day one. We’re continuing to work on making the launch experience as frictionless as possible for all players.”

The Freelancer update sees Agent 47 take on ‘various crime syndicates’ to restore balance to the world, with a successful mission involving the assassination of four leaders in any given mission. After choosing which syndicate to assault in Hitman 3: Freelancer, ‘removing’ the lower syndicate members forces the big bad out of hiding allowing Agent 47 to make quick work of them in an aptly named ‘showdown’ once and for all.

The Hitman 3: Freelancer mode launches on January 26, and will be FREE for all players, a perfect excuse to go hunting again.
