Creepshow, horror streaming service Shudder’s highly acclaimed series, is now getting an official video game.
Developed by PHL Games and published by DreadXP, the game will aim to bring the show’s authentic blend of scares, humour and comic-book-style terror onto players’ screens. Creepshow, the game, is taking inspiration from the show and delivers multiple self-contained tales of horror, which will provide the surprises and gameplay that fans of the series expect.
Players will follow Danny and his friends as they search for Danny’s missing father, but quickly discover the malevolent secrets that lie in their steps. Eventually, Danny has a fateful encounter with The Reader, a cryptic fortune teller, who spins tales of treachery and horror.
“Getting to publish the iconic Creepshow brand as a game has been a creative dream we don’t want to wake up from, and we think it’s going to pull a whole new audience into the Creep’s tent,” said Founder and CEO of DreadXP, Patrick Ewald. “The teams at AMC, PHL, and DreadXP have put a lot of work in to create something that genuinely feels like you are living (or dying) inside a Creepshow episode, and we can’t wait for fans, old and new, to play it.”

While developed by PHL, the team has been given some help from the solo game dev Brian Clarke, who made The Mourtuary Assistant. The team, including Clarke, has been working on Creepshow’s gameplay, which includes features like multiple playable horror stories, delivering the authentic Creepshow tone, and ensuring the pulp-horror aspect of the original series is delivered appropriately.
Launching in August for PC via Steam, Creepshow promises to show its devotion to the series through varied gameplay and scares that will pull in new and old fans alike. No specific release date has been set yet, but anyone who wants to know more can go check out the Creepshow Steam page.
