Lost Judgment Announced by Sega and Yakuza Team 4

The sequel to Sega’s Judgment was announced today, with details on how developers plan to handle the differences between Yakuza and Judgment in the future.

Lost Judgment will be the next game from the Yakuza team from their spin-off Judgment series, once again starring detective Takayuki Yagami. Series Director Toshihiro Nagoshi discussed the premise behind the sequel, with an expansion of Yagami’s story as he deals with the guilty verdict handed down in Japanese court.

Nagoshi also confirmed that Lost Judgment will launch worldwide on September 24th, 2021 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X—just two years after the western launch of the original.

Set in a fictional Tokyo and Yokohama, this title will see upgrades to its city life, with more liveliness from day to night, as well as its combat system, where Yagami will learn the Crane, Tiger, and Snake fighting styles of martial arts. Stealth and traversal options will be added to the game while searching for clues, where you’ll even go undercover at the local high school in missions called “School Stories,” promising to be “full of laughs, tears, struggles, and maybe even a little suspense too.”

Additionally, the future of the Yakuza franchise was discussed, with Yakuza sticking to its turn-based roots, allowing Judgment to be the action title they have on offer.

Based on our review of Judgment on Xbox Series X, which was previously a PS4-exclusive, we note its “much-welcomed next-gen improvements in framerate, resolution, and load times plus the inclusion of all previously released DLC,” which only makes the sequel announcement that much more exciting with the added horsepower in next-gen hardware, and the fact players on Xbox will get to experience it at launch as well.

For fans of Sega’s output from these franchises, exciting things are being announced, with clear details as to what to expect in the future from these excellent titles.
