Call of Duty games tend to stand the test of time due to constant updates deployed by the developers to ensure a smooth experience; however, the latest update seems to have broken Modern Warfare 3‘s cruise missile kill streak.
After the Season 2 patch notes launch, which was followed by the patch launching, combatants playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 have noticed a change. Aside from all the fixes, improvements, and a notable uptick in “reports of cheating,” the patch appears to have also done some damage.
Since Call of Duty 4 and World at War launched back in the late 2000s, Call of Duty has been implementing rewards for killstreaks and improving their utility by allowing players to change which ones they take into battle, and the cruise missile has been a staple for many years until today. The Cruise Missile, which has been a staple killstreak since the original Modern Warfare 2, is now broken it appears.

Fans have taken to Reddit in droves to complain about the affected killstreak, and they claim ‘it just veers off north.’ Under the thread aptly titled “Can’t control Cruise Missile,” fans have explained their frustrations with the 5-kill required killstreak. The initial post describes issues with the PS5 version of the game, but user RasputinTheAllSeeing said, “I have the same issue here, I’m on Xbox Series X the latest update broke cruise missiles, It sucks but not much u can do besides waiting for a fix” saying the issue is present on the Xbox consoles as well. Other fans have confirmed the same issue, the Cruise Missile is uncontrollable.

Fans experiencing the same issue in Modern Warfare 3 actually have access to a handy report tool found on the Activision website. Fans can report the issue that they’re having with the Cruise Missile in hopes a fix will arrive sooner rather than later. But until then, a UAV or airstrike might be more efficient.
