Nintendo Direct Mini Features Bravely Default 2 And No More Heroes

The final Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase for 2020 has arrived, featuring Bravely Default 2, a Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo, and a trio of No More Heroes updates.

Bravely Default 2 headlined the reel. The Switch successor to the popular Final Fantasy spin-offs on Nintendo 3DS will arrive on February 26, 2021. A handful of early Asterisks (ie. job classes) were displayed — Vanguard, Bard, Beastmaster, and Gambler — alongside the new main cast. Square-Enix announced they received over 20, 000 responses to the survey they conducted for the demo earlier this year, and will be adjusting the full game’s difficulty and controls accordingly.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is the latest in the farming sim series, due out March 23, 2021. The trailer draws attention to the ability to customize the player’s farm this time around, starting by clearing the land altogether, as well as the usual mining and social elements. If its cute, superdeformed style isn’t to your liking, Surviving the Aftermath is out Spring 2021, offering world-building gameplay with a more strategic and post-apocalyptic style.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising will arrive on Switch December 3, alongside its Sony, Xbox, PC, and Stadia counterparts. Ubisoft’s unique take on Greek mythology (formerly known as Gods and Monsters) will help fill the void of Kid Icarus.

Travis Touchdown returned in new footage of No More Heroes III, teasing his upcoming (and still undated) battle against “the galaxy’s most nefarious superheroes.” For those who haven’t played the originals, both No More Heroes and No More Heroes II: Desperate Struggle were added to the Switch eShop following the Nintendo Direct, available for $24.99 CDN each.

HAL Laboratories showed off Part Time UFO, a cutesy retro title where players assume the role of a UFO who helps average humans with odd jobs like fishing, stacking objects, or making desserts. A co-op mode will allow two players to work together to achieve special challenges. The titular UFOs look like they’re lifted from Kirby’s Adventure on the NES, and some Kirby characters even make a cameo in the trailer. Part Time UFO is now available on the eShop for $11.99 CDN.

Also available now is Control: Ultimate Edition. Remedy Entertainment’s acclaimed action-adventure has received a Cloud Edition on Switch.

The Nintendo Direct Mini wrapped up with new footage of Koei Tecmo’s Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, primarily the Koga tribe and the ability to control the Divine Beasts in battle. A demo is now available, containing the entire first chapter of the full game; upon its launch November 20, demo players can import their progress.

Also shown were Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia, out November 3; Tropico 6, out November 6; Griftlands: Nintendo Switch Edition, coming Summer 2021, and Hitman III: Cloud Edition, now confirmed for the Switch.
