Rumour: NX to use Similar Hardware as PS4, Xbox One

More rumors are circulating about potential features of the upcoming Nintendo NX. Today, reddit user untypedhero, verified by moderators as someone who has confirmed “connections to Wii U developer(s) and/or development hardware and very likely has knowledge about the NX via those same connections,” leaked details of the possible hardware that will be used in the new console. Nintendo, however, has not officially released any information as of yet.

The user informed reddit that the NX would be using X86 architecture, a similar set based on the Intel 8086 CPU and its Intel 8088 variant, which is also used in the PS4 and Xbox One. Because of this, the NX will be, allegedly, able to handle ports of current-gen games. The user also claims there is  second screen support and the ability to interact with smart-device apps. Data will back up to a Nintendo server, likely a user’s My Nintendo account. NX software will unlock My Nintendo reward points as well.

Rumour: Nx To Use Similar Hardware As Ps4, Xbox One 1

In March of 2015, Nintendo announced their partnership with mobile developers, DeNA, indicating an evolution in company direction toward the inclusion of the mobile market.  At the same press conference, former president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, announced the current development of a  new dedicated gaming platform, with the working title of project “NX” which would have the potential to blend portable and stationary components. According to Iwata, it would be “a brand new concept.” This January, Japanese news outlet Mainichi Shimbun reported comments made by current Nintendo President, Tatsumi Kimishima, who said “Nintendo wants to surprise fans with new ideas – not build on old ones. Nintendo will in 2016 release ‘details’ on the NX.”

In October of 2015 he Wall Street Journal reported, through an unnamed source, that software developer kits for the NX were distributed by Nintendo.
