Sources Claim The Nintendo Switch 2 is Set to Launch in 2025

Switching to 2025 (maybe)

The Nintendo Switch 2 May Launch in 2025 After Countless Rumours in 2023

After what feels like 2023 filled to the rim with Nintendo Switch 2 rumours, it’s now possible the successor to Nintendo’s flagship console could now be released in 2025, it is now rumoured.

2023 was loaded with rumours that suggest a ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ is in development. Aside from Nintendo saying that fans shouldn’t expect a new console for the fiscal year (which ends March 2024), the rumour mill has started to churn again, this time, the crystal ball is suggesting the Switch 2 could now be slated for a 2025 release. VGC has found this new rumour and comes from the Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe, who claims in their OX do Controle video that he received the information from ‘five separate sources.’

This rumour also surfaced after Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa deflected any questions about the still-unannounced successor console during a recent Nintendo earnings report. Furukawa said Nintendo would focus on the current generation console, which would be the company’s “main business” heading into 2024. It’s worth noting that aside from Nintendo’s brief statement advising fans not to expect a console until after March 2024, the company has been silent about a successor console.

On Jan. 9, a translation of Nintendo President Furukawa’s statements appeared online from IGN, emphasizing the importance of accurate information. Furukawa said, “As we have said in the past, our company is constantly conducting research and development on new hardware and software. But regarding new hardware, we have no further comments to make. Rumours have spread on the internet and elsewhere that appear to be based on non-public information, but those are inaccurate” in regard to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Furukawa concludes with “Information that has not been officially announced by Nintendo can mislead and confuse consumers and investors. We encourage consumers and investors to view the information we present on our website and our social media accounts and exercise good judgment,” and closes the door on rumours regarding the successor console.

Fans should take all rumours surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 with a grain of salt until a formal announcement is made from Nintendo themselves.
