Hello Games' Announces Story Mode for No Man's Sky 1

No Man’s Sky is set to receive a story mode.

Hello Games’ Sean Murray announced that a upcoming content update for the space exploration game will be coming that adds a story mode in addition to a host of other features.

The update in question, content update 1.3, will add the story mode downloadable content to No Man’s Sky. An excerpt below from Murray’s recent announcement regarding Story mode can be read below:

“Update 1.3 will release this week and will be available for free to all No Man’s Sky players. We’re calling it Atlas Rises. It focuses on improving the central story of No Man’s Sky and adds the ability to quick travel between locations using portals. Patch notes will be made available shortly before the update goes live.”

The biggest thing to note aside from the inclusion of a story mode is that the content will be free. Additionally, the new 1.3 update will bring with it the ability to quick travel, which is a nice quality of life improvement. The new story mode will be called “Atlas Rises”.

This big update comes on the heels of an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) event that Hello Games hosted for No Man’s Sky, in which players all over the globe were sent mysterious cassette tapes. The event was known as “Waking Titan”.

No Man’s Sky came out one year ago on PlayStation 4 and PC. The game was largely met with criticism for under delivering on content in addition to allegations of false advertising. Since then, the game has gotten numerous updates that have slowly added to the overall game’s content. Some of the new content included a revamped building mode that let players forge bases, which launched in the Foundation Update in late 2016.

No release date has been announced for the upcoming 1.3 story mode downloadable content for No Man’s Sky.
