With the first day of the convention concluded — CGMagazine is here to break down all the game news and announcements that took place during the first day of Paradox Con 2018.
Fans of traditional table-top games or those just looking to unplug for a while can look forward to a slew of new board games based on several iconic Paradox properties, including games like Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron and Cities: Skylines.
Of course, Paradox Interactive made sure to include some exciting game announcements as well, starting with the game Age of Wonders: Planetfall — Planetfall will be a brand new strategy title from the creators of the highly praised Age of Wonders and Overlord series, this new title will feature turn-based empire building in a fully-realized sci-fi setting.
Imperator: Rome — A grand take on the strategy formula, Imperator: Rome promises to transport players to the ancient Mediterranean republic, where players will be tasked in controlling a constantly changing and dynamic population while making sure to weed out those disloyal to the cause.
Europa Universalis IV: Dharma — The latest expansion to hit the Europa Universalis series. Dharma will feature an all-new set of peacetime mechanics, which include government reform, with additional new policy options and a central focus on India and the rest of the world.
Crusader Kings II: Holy Fury — another expansion to a beloved series, Holy Fury will feature intense role-playing goodness while reinvigorating the Crusades with new challenges, gameplay options and a deeper and more nuanced look into religious reform and the legendary bloodline.
Hearts of Iron IV: Man the Guns — The Man the Guns expansion will give players a deep dive into the ocean, offering richer naval war experiences and the chance to be a part of the vast democracies of the world. Hearts of Iron will be available for $19.99 USD following a large free update for all players.
On top of the new Man the Guns expansion, Hearts of Iron will be getting a special Anniversary edition to celebrate one million units sold.
“When we released Hearts of Iron IV we didn’t know it was going to be such a success,” says Dan Lind, Game Director for Hearts of Iron IV.. “We did not dare make a big physical collector’s edition. It feels great to be able to make something like that now. Both as Game Director and as someone who loves miniatures!”.
Finally, Stellaris: Distant Stars, will be the latest story-themed expansion to hit Stellaris, launching the not so distant future of May 22, 2018.
