Great, Another Invisible Character

A new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer reveals a surprise character joining the roster—the intense and explosive Peacemaker brings his signature bag of tricks (and sonic booms!).

Sonic Boom (no relation to SEGA’s Sonic Boom series from 2014) has finally made its way into Mortal Kombat 1. This is regarding the next DLC character from the Mortal Kombat 1 Season Pass, Peacemaker, not another military-looking camo-clad muscle head that also yells Sonic Boom from other fighting games. Warner Bros. Peacemaker is finally in Mortal Kombat 1. To prove it, here’s a bloody trailer featuring the hero fully clad in armour, doing what he does best: keep the peace.

John Cena also does the voicework for the character, which adds that extra layer of authentic cringe to the entire ordeal, and it’s safe to say the wrestler/actor has been on a serious side quest montage recently. Outside of appearing as Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1 and making inspirational posts on X (formerly Twitter), John Cena has batted for the Savannah Bananas, returned to wrestling, played The Enigma in Overwatch 2 and made an appearance in Fortnite as his wrestling persona.

But in Mortal Kombat 1, he is all business. Peacemaker’s signature moves are brutally comboed in the trailer, as he delivers justice to the cast of MK1. Torpedo, Sonic Boom, and, of course, even Eagly have made it into his move list. The peace-giving fatal blow concludes with a shotgun blast and an excited “Booyah!”. Aside from the trailer concluding with the most vicious body tackle ever seen, Janet Cage is also coming to the roster as a playable Kameo fighter, which is a different direction from the initially advertised Johnny Cage Kameo.

While Khameleon (as a Kameo) has just released, alongside Invincible’s Omni-Man, there are still more characters to be released from the first Season Pass. So, while fans continue to wait for those, Peacemaker is dropping into the fray first on February 28 for Early Access and then on March 6 for the full release. Janet Cage is launching slightly later in March. Fans thirsty for other info can swing over to the Netherrealm website for more.
