S-Game has revealed an action-packed new trailer for Phantom Blade Zero and has also opened digital pre-orders. Oh, and a new State of Play deep dive is coming.
Developer S-Game has come out of the woodwork and uncorked an action-packed 11-minute pre-order trailer for its upcoming game, Phantom Blade Zero. The trailer ripped the lid off the title’s opening scene, other cinematic cutscenes (like previous trailers), high-octane gameplay, and boss battles. The trailer was posted to YouTube by the official Phantom Blade Zero account and, surprisingly, by actor Donnie Yen. S-Game has also announced that world-renowned martial artist and actor Donnie Yen has been serving as a consultant on Phantom Blade Zero since 2023 and donning the role of Mó Yuan in-game. The full 11-minute trailer is below, and if that’s not enough for fans, a State of Play is planned for next week.
CGMagazine’s preview for Phantom Blade Zero at gamescom says it “has positioned itself as one of the most promising action-RPGs on the horizon,” adding, “The combat strikes a balance between accessibility and depth that many action games struggle to achieve.” S-Game revealed today that the impressive combat tricks may have been handled by Donnie Yen himself, as he steps behind the mask of the mysterious character from the latest June trailer and into the role of Mó Yuan in-game.
Phantom Blade Zero injects the player into the Phantom World as Soul, an elite assassin for the Order who has been framed for the death of his master and left with 66 days to live. Soul has over 30 weapons to wield, from swords and axes to lances, hammers, and more. Phantom Blade Zero is inspired by classic Hong Kong action movies; you can see how every fight unfolds like a seamlessly choreographed martial arts sequence, just like the Ip Man films.
Phantom Blade Zero now has an official release date of October 29, 2026, and is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 5. If fans are clamouring for more, S-Game has announced that a lengthy State of Play deep dive will take place next week on August 17. So fans will not have to wait long for more Soul.
