Similar to how Pokémon Horizons: The Series is a Netflix exclusive launch in the U.S. in February, the series is aiming to launch on March 2, 2024, in Canada exclusively on Cartoon Network and Télétoon.

Today, The Pokémon Company International uncorked the release date for their newest anime series, Pokémon Horizons: The Series in Canada as March 2, 2024. What’s notable is that the series will be exclusive to Cartoon Network and Télétoon in Canada, and they’ve released a brand new trailer to show the hype ahead of the release date. The trailer can be seen below.

The series centres around two new trainers as opposed to the original anime’s focus on Ash Ketchum. Fans will meet new dual protagonists – Liko and Roy, as well as their partners Pokémon Sprigatito and Fuecoco, two of the new starter Pokémon present in the Paldea region and the latest video games, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. What’s interesting is the main character Liko says she’s excited to go to the Indigo Academy in the Kanto region, which means this series potentially takes place mainly in the first Pokémon region, the same one Pokémon first originated.

It’s worth noting that Pokémon Horizons: The Series takes place after the 25-year-long journey Ash and Pikachu embarked on in 1997, so while the store might have concluded with them as protagonists, they might still make an appearance in the new series. The launch of the animated series coincides with Pokémon Day 2024, as Pokémon Horizons: The Series launches in the same week in celebration. Although Ash and his iconic Pikachu aren’t gracing TV screens anymore, a new Captain Pikachu and trainer Friede will step in as the necessary Pikachu-laden trainer duo this time around it seems.

While fans are still over three months back until Pokémon Horizons: The Series launches, there’s more information to dive into over on the official Pokémon website in the mean time.
