The Pokémon Company has pulled back the curtain on another new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet this morning, revealing adversaries, new monsters and more.
For the first time in a Pokémon title, this one has revealed three paths a trainer can choose on their way through the region, and this Paldea region has a plethora of new revelations this morning. In the new trailer, many new things were unveiled including a new gym leader, new Paldea monsters, the nefarious truant Team Star, and that trailer can be seen below.
Treasure Hunt Story Paths
The Paldea region will have trainers enrol in either the Naranja Academy (Pokémon Scarlet) or the Uva Academy (Pokémon Violet) and will be required to engage in an independent study “A Treasure Hunt.” Throughout this treasure hunt, trainers can confront three different story paths that are seamlessly interwoven into the sprawling adventure.
- Victory Road – Like a typical Pokémon experience, trainers will go to Gyms in different locations to overcome obstacles and battles to get to the top.
- Path of Legends – Upperclassmen Arven will join the player in search of rare ingredients called Herba Mystica, which can possibly lead to legendary monsters.
- Starfall Street – Players will challenge Team Star, this game’s Team Rocket/Plasma, which is a group of truant troublemakers set on disrupting a harmonious school life.
On top of the new paths a trainer can take, another fan-favourite feature returns with ‘Let’s Go,’ a way to let the critters adventure alongside a trainer, that not only serves to pick up useful items while travelling, but can defend the player from wild monsters looking for a fight seamlessly. But the best part about new games in the franchise are the newly introduced monsters trainers can encounter on their journey.
New Pokémon
First up is Klawf, a Rock-type that can be found in both game versions. The trailer showed a meatier new ‘Titan’ forme of Klawf, which kind of resembles Alpha Pokémon from Legends Arceus and there has been no details given on whether titans can be caught or if they’re unique. A description pulled from their wesbite:
Klawf can rotate their protruding eyeballs to see everything around them, eliminating all their blind spots. They can latch upside down onto cliffs to ambush their prey from above; however, they eventually get dizzy from the blood rushing to their heads, so they cannot stay upside down for very long.
