New Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Region – Paldea

Trainers can explore the new Paldea region as a fully open-world RPG for the first time in the series, and take on three ‘grand stories’ at their own pace. One of these stories is the signature gym challenge which requires the trainer to defeat eight gym leaders. While both box legendary Pokémon seem to be akin to ‘Ride Pokémon’ in Legends Arceus, Koraidon and Miraidon can alter formes to meet different requirements for the player and will help traversal of the open world become easier.

The gym challenge in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet can be taken on in any order the player desires, while meeting new and familiar creatures along the way. New important characters were revealed in the Paldea region, such as the Academy Director Clavell — Naranja Academy in Scarlet & Uva Academy in Violet — homeroom teacher Mr. Jacq, potential rival Nemona, and the Ice-type Gym Leader Grusha showing the vast new location will have many new faces to meet. The other two tasks the player encounters are still shrouded in mystery, but the whole treasure hunt theme could be a major hint.

Full co-op was introduced, and by visiting a union circle trainers can recruit their friends on their ‘treasure hunt’ through the Paldea region.

New Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Mechanics – Terastal Phenomenon

In a mechanic that seems familiar to Mega Evolution from previous titles, ‘Terastallizing’ a Pokémon will make them stronger and can change its type, all Paldea Pokémon can utilize this phenomenon. Rare ‘Tera types’ can be found such as a water- or grass-type Eevee, but the easiest way to find these rare types are through new Tera Raid Battles, which can be taken on with up to four players at once.

Of course, the mascot Pikachu gets the Flying Tera type, equipped with balloons; this exclusive iteration will only be available as an early purchase reward, obtainable through the Mystery Gift system until February 28, 2023. It remains to be seen whether Pokémon Scarlet & Violet will also include the Surfing Pikachu also.

New Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Pokémon

While many previous generation Pokémon are everywhere such as Mareep, Donphan, and fan favourite Arcanine, three new Pokémon were revealed today. The Paldea regional Variant of Wooper, now a poison-type; a new dog Pokémon called Fidough; and a beastly looking ice-type Cetitan. These new monsters and more will surely make Paldea a unique place to explore for all trainers.

That just about wraps up all of the exciting news regarding the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet titles. Trainers can slide over to the Pokémon website for information regarding the entire Pokémon Presents of August 2022.
