Report: Disney removing the “Fox” from two major film studios. 1

Disney is reportedly taking out the “Fox” naming from two long-time studio brands.

According to Variety, the logos for 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures will simply become 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures for future appearances in movies.

Disney’s latest decision comes after the world’s biggest media company secured 21st Century Fox in a $71.3 billion acquisition last March.

Disney’s large acquisition also took ownership of Fox’s notable properties including Star Wars, X-Men, The Simpsons and James Cameron’s Avatar series.

A source told Variety that no agreements have been made yet to rebrand the current 20th Century Fox Television or Fox 21 Television Studios for its network programs.

The Searchlight Pictures logo will be hitting the comedy film “Downhill” first later this month.

20th Century Studios’ new logo is also being introduced with adventure movie “The Call of the Wild” on big screens next month.

But the brand’s signature presentation is here to stay, with audiences still being treated to a drum crawl, searchlight beams, trumpets and a giant number 20 looming the screen.

Variety’s report also said the work emails for existing staff will be changed to fit the shorter names.

The movie studio’s official website states the original 20th Century Fox logo was created in the 1930s after Hungarian-American film producer William Fox merged his business with an up-and-coming Twentieth Century Pictures, created by Darryl F. Zanuck and Joseph M. Schenck.

A video below shows how the 20th Century Fox logo evolved since its first appearance in 1933.
