Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Announced

Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration Announced 1

Gather your resources and locate your exploration gear, as an expanded edition of Rise of the Tomb Raider will be coming to the PS4 on October 11.

Revealed on the PlayStation blog by Scot Amos, Co-head at Crystal Dynamics, this edition of Tomb Raider will be focused on celebrating 20 years of Lara Croft and will be what he calls a “truly special” version of the game.

“When we were planning the PS4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider, our very first imperative was to outdo anything we’d done before, such as our definitive editions,” said Amos. “A mere ‘Game of the Year’ wouldn’t satisfy us, or our fans.”

According to the post, a “new story” was number one of the wishlist for what DLC players were interested in having. The 20 Year edition will feature a brand-new “Blood Ties” chapter which will take players through the fabled Croft Manor.

“The Manor represents more than just a place. It is Lara’s legacy,” said Amos. “It’s an incredibly important part of her story and the franchise, and like many of you we have fond memories of it from the classic games.”

With growing interest in the VR scene, players will be able to experience Croft Manor through Lara’s eyes herself with a first-person mode.

Plenty of other content will be available to players as well, including co-op Endurance mode, an ‘Extreme Survivor’ setting that increase the game’s difficulty, classic Lara models for players to use, and all previously released DLC.

More information on the content of this edition is expected in the coming months. No price point has currently been set.
