Welcome to Vice City

Grand Theft Auto Leak Causes Rockstar To Release Full GTA 6 Trailer

After years of anticipation, Rockstar Games has officially released the first trailer for GTA 6. Dropping early after a leak spread across social media, the trailer gives fans their first real look at the next entry in Rockstar’s iconic open-world crime series.

With the world eagerly awaiting the launch of the new GTA 6 trailer, it was no wonder a leak would come out, giving the info people have been waiting for early. A now-suspended account on X (formerly Twitter) called @Gta6trailerleak gave an early look at the trailer, giving people a taste of what was to come. With some details now out in the wild, Rockstar Games decided to stop fighting the leaks and just surprised dropped the new GTA 6 trailer today, less than a day before the official launch was set to set the world on fire.

The trailer gives a glimpse of the new game, set in what looks to be the sun-soaked Vice City, a fictional version of Miami, FL, showing off the neon-lit beaches, glitzy high-rises, and seedy criminal underbelly that define this iconic Grand Theft Auto location. We see high-speed street races through crowded streets, epic shootouts with police, and plenty of over-the-top action. The game looks absolutely stunning, giving a near-photorealistic look to the fictional chaotic world the game tries to encapsulate.

Potentially, one of the most exciting aspects we learned from today’s trailer drop is that GTA 6 introduces the series’ first female protagonist, Lucia. She appears to be one of two playable lead characters, alongside a male character fans are speculating may be her partner-in-crime. Their adventures seem to draw inspiration from famous outlaws like Bonnie and Clyde, showing Lucia and her associate robbing banks, battling police, and living a dangerous criminal lifestyle together. Little has been teased about either character, but what has been shown paints a very interesting picture for people eagerly awaiting the game.

The trailer also hints that players may be able to explore Vice City both on land and at sea, with speedboats, jet skis, and other aquatic vehicles shown alongside the expected lineup of sports cars, motorcycles, and other road-based transportation. An airline ticket also suggests players may be able to fast-travel to other locales. This would all make sense, with the series slowly expanding the potential modes of transport since the days of the GTA Vice City on the PS2, and with the game looking this good, it would be a shame not to get to explore every aspect of the new game world.

While no firm release date is given, the GTA 6 trailer ends on a “2025” title card, indicating fans will have to wait at least another year to get their hands on Grand Theft Auto 6. But the brief glimpse we’ve seen already, there is no doubt fans around the world are going to get fans around the world buzzing with excitement.

With Rockstar promising to reveal more details in the months ahead, one thing is sure: Grand Theft Auto is back in a big way. After nearly a decade since GTA 5‘s launch, the king of open-world chaos is here to reclaim its crown in 2025 with what is surely Rockstar’s most ambitious entry yet, one that looks absolutely stunning.
