Everything You Missed From The Samsung CES 2018 Press Conference

At CES 2018, Samsung introduced a variety of new technology planned to release later this year.

The first major announcement from the company is the world’s first modular television for consumers, called The Wall. The Wall is a microLED TV, debuted at a whopping 146-inch screen size. The TV is bezel-less and is said to feature self-emitting technology which is all customizable. Enough to transform all pictures into 8K resolution. The Wall is also said to offer optimum frame-rate conversions and low input-lag for video games. More information on The Wall will be made available before its planned global launch which is sometime this spring.

Samsung also announced their new plans to help revolutionize the workplace with the Samsung Flip digital flip chart. Designed as an upgrade to standard paper flip charts and analog boards, the Samsung Flip maintains the feeling of traditional writing but with modern conveniences such as annotations and easy sharing. Up to four people can simultaneously use the Samsung Flip, either by using their fingers or a dual-sided pen with different colors, sizing or fonts to distinguish their own notes. The Samsung Flip also uses a wheel-based stand to allow for easy portability and can be connected to PC’s, smartphones and tablets through both wireless connectivity and USB. The Samsung Flip will be available in the U.S. and Europe initially with Samsung already planning a global introduction later next month. It will be available for purchase online and through brick-and-mortar furniture retailers, as well as traditional professional B2B display channels.

Samsung’s third announcement at CES 2018 was their next-generation laundry washing machine. The WW6850N featuring QuickDrive technology is said to be Samsung’s response to consumers demanding more speed from their washing machine with a higher cleaning performance. Samsung’s new 24-inch compact washer is designed to be compatible with their SmartThings ecosystem and features a Q-rator laundry assistant that help to simplify the washing cycle. The WW6850N washing machine will be available later this year in the U.S.

The company’s final announcement was the new Family Hub refrigerator. Family Hub features the addition of Samsung’s voice assistant Bixby, which allows to better keep things connected and organized with features like syncing up food storage with meal preparation. Another feature of Family Hub is that users will be able to look inside their fridge from anywhere by using the View Inside App. Meal planner will also help to create recipes based on individual food preferences. Family Hub also features options for both TV and music to be streamed. The Family Hub will be available later this spring.
