After the reveal of the anime last March, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is the new title for the graphic novel-based Pilgrim anime prepared by Netflix, and the art style has also been revealed in a new trailer.
The new teaser trailer contains all the angst, style, and video game arcade noises that one can expect from the feature film. The anime even has the same beloved actors from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, with almost the entire cast reprising their roles. But, the new teaser trailer has revealed the working title, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, and it has also shown the anime carries the spirit of the film and the art direction of the graphic novels while blending them into one body. The new teaser for the Pilgrim-based anime can be seen below, but fair warning, it is NSFW.
The new anime appears to follow the Edgar Wright-written film from 2010, and it is co-written by the graphic novel creators Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski. O’Malley said: “It’s hilarious. It’s emotional. It’s visually stunning. The action scenes will blow your mind. And there might be a few surprises along the way” regarding the upcoming Netflix anime series.
Interestingly, Edgar Wright revealed the main cast for the film had remained very close after the film’s curtain call, and said “Luckily, the Scott Pilgrim cast became a close-knit family and friendships were forged for life,” to Tudum, while also stating “There — to this day — is still a group email with the entire cast on it, that’s been going since 2010. I was happy to be able to reach out to everyone with the news that we had finally come up with a way to continue the adventure. Seeing (and hearing) everyone come back to their roles has been a true pleasure.”
Fans anticipating the return of Sex Bob-Omb won’t have to wait long either. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off will launch on November 17 exclusively on Netflix.
