In a recent announcement, Insomniac Games revealed that Spider-Man 2 will receive outfits based on Brand New Day and Tokon: Fighting Souls, as well as enhanced PSSR upscaling for PS5 Pro.
The Daily Bugle has been busy this week, as Spider-Man can’t stay out of the news. Spider-Man 2 and Insomniac Games are celebrating the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day — the latest MCU Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland — and the coming-soon fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls by revealing new suits are coming to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac Games has revealed the two suits via social media, and the tweet announcing both costumes can be seen below.
The verdict is out on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as critics have seemingly enjoyed the film so far, with it scoring a 70% out of (as of this posting) 28 reviews on Metacritic. CGMagazine’s review of Brand New Day calls it “additional proof why the superhero film genre should continue to thrive now, and for centuries to come,” in a 9/10 critique. This costume from Brand New Day is now in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Not only that, as an additional surprise, Marvel has also included the Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls suit in the free update, with no webs attached.
On forums like Reddit, fans have been quick to share their opinions on the new digs, and most fans seem to dislike the overall presentation of the new skins, saying they appear “too cartoonish” overall. One fan on the forum simply writes, “Fix the suit,” as well as other fans chiming in with like-minded responses.

Notably, the new (and free) update v1.005.000 also adds support for Enhanced PSSR on PS5 Pro and Power Saver mode. For the uninitiated, PSSR is PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, and it uses AI-driven upscaling technology developed by Sony exclusively for the PlayStation 5 Pro to make visuals 4K without sacrificing power. This means better performance for Spider-Man 2 on PS5 Pro consoles, and, on top of that, the new Power Saver mode now supports Insomniac Games’ sequel title.
While Spider-Man 2 is out now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out now in theatres, and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is arriving on August 6.
