Spider-Man No Way Home Trailer Officially Released

Well, the wait is finally over as Sony Pictures has finally released the first official trailer of Spider-Man No Way Home, just less than four months before its release.

The trailer was released following a leak from Sunday night from CinemaCon that looked like it was filmed at 14p at best. The official trailer gives fans a way better first look at the movie where Peter Parker faces his greatest foe yet, the ghosts of Sony’s Spider-Man movie past. Not just for the MCU but for Sony’s previous Spider-Man cinematic universes which confirms the rumoured multiverse storyline of Spider-Man No Way Home.

The movie follows 2019’s Spider-Man Far From Home which featured Spider-Man‘s secret identity being revealed by Mysterio during the final moments of the film. Now Peter must face the fallout in a world where everyone knows that he’s Spider-Man, it’s even tougher when you bring that into high school drama.

Spider-Man No Way Home features the return of Zenday’s MJ, Jacob Batalon is back as Ned Leeds, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Jon Favreau as Happy Hogan. The movie also stars Benedict Wong as Wong and Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

“For the record, I never wanted to lie to you,” Peter tells MJ in the trailer. “But how do you tell somebody you are Spider-Man?”

Peter turns to Doctor Strange to find a solution to his whole ‘everybody knows I’m Spider-Man‘ problem. The Doctor Strange has a solution but it doesn’t work out thanks to Peter’s teenage awkwardness and the magic unleashes the Sony multiverse into the not so ‘sacred timeline’.

The trailer does show more though as Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus finally makes his appearance in the MCU who says “Hello” to our Spider-man. The actor himself confirmed to Variety that his character would be in the movie earlier this year. Doc Ock’s story in the upcoming Spider-Man movie picks up exactly from the moment Dock Ock sinks into the East River thanks to his unstable nuclear reactor in Spider-Man 2.

Oh but he’s not the only Non-MCU Spider-Man villains making their reappearance as the movie also teases Jamie Foxx’s Electro – which is more yellow than blue this time around – and Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin.

The movie is also rumoured to not just feature the Sony Marvel villains but Sony’s previous Spider-Man actors, Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield. The first trailer doesn’t confirm their appearance but it is expected we’ll get a look at them at some point in Spider-Man No Way Home or hopefully in another trailer, which hopefully won’t take as long as the first one.

Spider-Man No Way Home is set to release exclusively in theatres this holiday on December 17th.
