Street Fighter 6 Tops 2 Million Sales

Capcom has announced that Street Fighter 6 has officially sold over 2 million copies since its release on June 2.

This is a fairly good start out of the gate for the latest entry in the fighting franchise, as by comparison Street Fighter 5 sold 7.2 million copies across its entire lifetime. It’s easy to see how Street Fighter 6 could eclipse those numbers over time. Apparently, the game wracked up one million players its first weekend and then doubled that across the next month.

Street Fighter 6 is one of the highest-rated games of the year, releasing to rave reviews from critics and currently sitting at a 92 on Metacritic. Our own review awarded the game a 9/10, saying, “Street Fighter 6 packs a punch and should not be missed by fans of Capcom’s legendary fighting franchise, while new accessibility controls make the game more welcoming than ever.

In order to celebrate the milestone, Capcom is going to give all players a couple of small in-game rewards. This includes a new ID Card photo mode frame and a Street Fighter 6 logo background for the player’s in-game smartphone. These gifts will automatically be added when logging into the game.

Hot off the sales numbers, Street Fighter 6 is set to receive its first DLC character, Rashid, on July 24. Rashid is described as a “laid-back, Middle Eastern fighter with an affinity for the latest technology.” He first made his debut in Street Fighter 5, and while his moveset will remain mostly the same, he has a few new additions, including an attack called Arabian Cyclone. You can see the new trailer for the character above. He’ll be free to unlock for players that own the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions.

The “Year 1 DLC” for Street Fighter 6 will see three other characters added, including AKI, Ed, and Akuma.
