Valve Confirms Next Generation Source Engine

Valve Confirms Next Generation Source Engine

Valve, the company behind PC gaming giant Steam, has confirmed they do have a next generation Source engine. They’re just not revealing it yet.

Gabe Newell, the founder and Managing Director of Valve, told members of the popular 4Chan forum, /v/, that, “we’ve been working on engine stuff for quite a while. We’ve just been waiting for a game to roll it out with.

The idea of a new game which could harness the power of a new Source engine has people within the industry thinking about which game it could possibly be. While it doesn’t seem like to far of a stretch to think of Half Life 3 has a possibility (considering Half Life 2 was used to showcase the first Source engine), this is all just speculation.

Check out the video below to see everything Newell had to say on his birthday (Nov. 9) to the folks at 4Chan.

Newell did not provide when the new Source engine can be expected. Stay tuned to C&G for all of the details on the story.
