Attention all fans of videogame music and soundtracks! Stop waiting for the year that Video Games Live finally tours in a city near you and get some of those live gaming hits in your living room this Saturday. VConcert, is a videogame based concert being held this Saturday November 8, but before you go looking for tickets you should know it’s happening in Monterrey, Mexico.
Why am I telling you about a concert in Mexico? Maybe you live in Mexico; I don’t make assumptions. Or maybe you have an Internet connection because the show is being live-streamed.
The show’s lineup includes Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series) Michiru Yamane (Castlevania series), The Megas (Megaman), C418 (Minecraft), El Huervo and M.O.O.N. (Hotline Miami), Power Glove (Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon), Brian Cubría (Nintendo Jazz Band), and Mortal Konga (Videogame Cumbia).
The concert will be live-streamed via twitch, and starts at 4:00 p.m. CT or 5:00 p.m. eastern. If you want more information you can go to the official website, but it is all in Spanish. I couldn’t discern much from it, but my keen sense of intuition makes me believe that “videojuegos” means videogames, just a hunch.
Whatever it means, it’s great to see more of these types of shows popping up. Most fans of music in games are probably aware of Video Games Live, the concert tour that uses a full orchestra to bring to life many of the classic game soundtracks. They’ve done a lot to promote videogames as a whole, but it’s great to see composers and artists who have worked on games getting the chance to showcase their work themselves.
