Vivendi Pens Letter to Gameloft Employees

With the takeover of Gameloft by Vivendi all but inevitable, Vivendi has taken the time to write a letter to the staff of Gameloft, prepping them for what this means.

Today, Bloomberg reported that 28.2 million Gameloft shares have been accepted tendered  Vivendi’s offer. This would represent aprox 62 percent of the capital and 56 percent of the votes.

Beyond physical and intellectual assets at any company, there are the people that work there. When there are take-overs, there can often be a brain drain at the company, and Vivendi knows this and wants to cut it off at the pass.

In the letter, Vivendi talks about how the merged staff will “be a stronger presence on the worldwide entertainment market.” They go on to talk about how they “have much to gain from close collaboration with Gameloft’s teams and all its partners.”

Gameloft, known for the Asphalt series along with many tie-in games, is one of the leading mobile developers/publishers worldwide. With such a diverse talent pool, it is hard to say if anyone will leave due to this merger, but it is good to see Vivendi taking steps to keep the talent.
