Walking Dead Publisher Raided by Police, One Person Arrested 1

Swedish police raided the office of Starbreeze, the publisher of Overkill’s recent Walking Dead video game, in connection with insider trading allegations.

According to a Swedish news outlet, the authorities seized computers and arrested one employee for alleged insider trading. Starbreeze’s head of IR and Corporate Communications, Ann-Charlotte Svensson released a statement, stressing that the investigation was directed at the single employee and not the company as a whole.

“On Wednesday Swedish Economic Crime Authority has conducted a search query at Starbreeze AB. The company has been informed that this has occurred due to suspicions of insider charges. The company as such is not subject to any suspicion. The company cooperates fully with the Swedish Economic Crime Authority. The event does not affect the company or the ongoing business reconstruction.”

This hiccup isn’t the first for Starbreeze as the company has reportedly been in financial turmoil for a while. Their Walking Dead game didn’t do all that well financially and in late November, the company announced that they were looking at cost-cutting measures in order to let them focus on their “core business.”

The publisher is known best for their Payday 2 game, and they have worked on a variety of titles including Dead by Daylight, Syndicate, The Darkness and Inked. Recently Payday 2 made its way to the  Nintendo Switch, as well as to certain VR consoles.
