XREAL has just launched their new AR glasses in China as part of the X by XREAL series, which will be coming soon to markets overseas.

Just over a week after showing off the Project Aura XR glasses partnered with Google and Qualcomm Technologies, XREAL has revealed a new AR glasses product. Alongside the launch of the “accessible and inclusive” sub-brand X by XREAL, or xbx for short, we have been introduced to the a01 AR glasses, the first to come for xbx. These glasses are now available in China and will roll out to other markets, including the United States, in July.

Like other AR glasses, the xbx a01’s are personal displays for connected devices like phones, PCs, or gaming consoles, projecting a mirrored view of the screen in augmented reality. The a01s were designed to be affordable, comfortable, and customizable, while also featuring advanced display technology. Here is a list of the standout features of the X by XREAL a01 AR glasses.

  • Interchangeable Front Frames: Four different frames to choose from at launch to suit the wearer’s style.
    • The a01’s are designed in a way that new frames can easily be 3D printed and attached for further personalization.
  • As Light as 62 grams: Built with a custom ultra-light nylon body and reduced lens thickness to ensure the glasses are comfortable to wear for long periods.
    • To help reduce facial discomfort, there are also three sizes of nose pads, adaptive elastic hinges, and ultra-thin flexible arms.
  • 1600-Nit HDR10 Ultra-Bright Display: With a 50-degree field of view, users can watch the equivalent of a 147-inch ultra-clear big screen from four metres away.
    • The a01 supports 14 levels of brightness and 1.07 billion colours for its displays.
  • Spatial Anti-Shake Algorithm: An industry-first algorithm that preserves image clarity during shaky real world situations, such as on a subway or while experiencing turbulence.

All of these highly user-friendly features are based in the core design behind the a01, which was to “… create a simpler, more approachable path into the world of AR glasses,” according to Co-Founder and CEO of XREAL, Chi Xu. He continued that “The a01 borrows from years of innovation, found in our flagship products like the XREAL One Series, and refines them into an accessible platform designed to welcome the next generation of AR glasses owners.”

The a01 AR glasses are now available in China, with a launch in the United States coming sometime in July, priced starting at $299 USD.
